Ecoparque

Ecoparque Buenos Aires is the transformation of the former city zoo—today a National Historic Monument—into a contemporary public park. The project reactivates historic pavilions and promenades through new programs, restoring heritage while opening the site to a new civic life.

Located on the grounds of the former Buenos Aires Zoo, declared a National Historic Monument, the Ecoparque project reimagines a well-known urban landmark as a public park for the city. Our work focused on the refunctionalization of the site—preserving and revitalizing its historic buildings, gardens, and pedestrian paths while introducing new uses aligned with contemporary public life.

The intervention treats heritage as active infrastructure: existing pavilions and structures are adapted to host cultural, educational, and community-oriented programs, while the open spaces are reinforced as a continuous landscape network that encourages walking, discovery, and everyday recreation. The result is a renewed civic destination that respects the site’s architectural memory and enables a new, inclusive relationship between the city and this unique landscape.
