BA City Hall

Buenos Aires City Hall is a civic headquarters in Parque Patricios, spanning an entire city block and conceived as a catalyst for the district’s regeneration—defined by a flowing roof canopy, shaded public edges, and a light-filled central atrium.

Designed between 2010–2015, Ciudad Casa de Gobierno consolidates the Mayor’s offices and approximately 1,500 employees within a flexible system of terraced office floors organized around courtyards and landscaped patios.

A soaring four-storey atrium and full-height glazing bring natural light deep into the building and create a direct visual connection to the adjacent park, while the deep roof overhang and façade louvers provide effective solar control.

Originally commissioned as Banco Ciudad’s headquarters, the project’s inherent adaptability enabled a seamless conversion into government offices—combining civic presence with clear, buildable environmental strategies. In 2017, the building achieved LEED Gold certification.

Diego Suárez was the apartner in charge of the Foster + Partners design team for the project.
